Wilsons fame surpassed that of the United States during 2014, when she landed a role in Showtimes The Affair. In the show, she was Alison Lockhart who is a young, troubled girl from a dark background. Lockhart has a crush on an unmarried Noah Solloway. The show, which also featured Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson was a hit for both critics and viewers alike and earned Wilson an award of a Golden Globe for Best Actress in the field of Television Series Drama in 2015. Wilson stated to British Vogue she was a fan of being a character from both viewpoints. Noah imagines Alison's confident, unresponsible side of sexiness. She sees her own self in a totally different way. On the inside, she is not confident and would rather blend in with the background. She added: I do believe that America is morally skewed and judgmental that the stuff that takes place in the show seems to be shocking. Wilson left the show which was a shock to fans. But, Wilson spoke in a very vague manner about additional details. I was in a position to give up, but she wouldn't let me talk about the decision. She was in 2016 when she appeared in the film I Am The Pretty Thing from the House in the horror movie I Am the Pretty Thing. Then, in 2017, she was the mysterious PT Stella, in the sci fi rom com How to Talk to Girls at Parties. In addition to adding more horror genre onto her film credits she is scheduled to appear in the British film adaptation to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller which is based on a novel by author Sarah Waters. Wilson executive produces the movie.
